MCU fans reassess controversial Phase 4 film: 'had so much potential'
As Avengers: Doomsday approaches, some fans hope the MCU has finally found its groove after a rocky period between RDJ's imminent return and his departure in Avengers: Endgame. One frequently discussed misstep from that stretch is Thor: Love and Thunder, which lead actor Chris Hemsworth has admitted could have used more work.
Viewers on Reddit argued the film had promise but faltered in execution. "Merging the Mighty Thor and Godbutcher storylines together was inspired, but [director] Taika Waititi was the wrong director for that idea," one fan wrote, adding that "no-one took it seriously" and that "they got too carried away with improv and the comedy, and weren't reigned in." Others said "it didn't know if it was a horror movie or a slapstick comedy" and called it "the worst thing modern Marvel has made imo," criticising the handling of Christian Bale and the film's "Too much Waititi-ness." Not everyone agreed.
