Mel C says she kept daughter Scarlett out of spotlight amid Beckham family feud

Pagesix reported that Melanie “Mel C” Chisholm said she is grateful she raised her daughter out of the spotlight amid her Spice Girls bandmate Victoria Beckham’s public family feud with son Brooklyn. Chisholm, speaking to the Sunday Times, called herself “so relieved,” said “it’s so hard to be in the shadow of a parent who’s had success,” and added, “I made that conscious decision when she was a baby.” She said her 16-year-old daughter Scarlett has no plans to follow into the music industry and noted she has friends who “handle it very differently, each to their own, no judgment at all.” Chisholm also said her closeness with former bandmates “fluctuates,” adding she has “always been really close to Emma,” and the group reunited for Emma Bunton’s 50th birthday with Mel B absent.

The Beckham family feud has played out publicly after Brooklyn, 26, posted a statement saying, “For my entire life, my parents have controlled narratives in the press about our family [with] performative social media posts, family events and inauthentic relationships. … Recently, I have seen with my own eyes the lengths that they’ll go through to place countless lies in the media, mostly at the expense of innocent people, to preserve their own facade,” and that he does not want to reconcile.
