Melissa Rivers sounds off on the best and worst Oscars 2026 red carpet looks
From pops of vibrant color to feathers galore, the Oscars 2026 red carpet was full of fabulous fashion moments — if not much sartorial risk-tasking. "There were very few big swings and misses; everybody looked really pretty," Melissa Rivers said. Rivers highlighted several standouts: Rose Byrne’s Dior was "so good; a gasp-worthy moment.
She looked amazing," and Gwyneth Paltrow’s Giorgio Armani Privé felt "so sophisticated," a vintage Gwyneth moment. Teyana Taylor drew praise as well — "There’s no one right now on the carpet who can work a look like her... And she’s having fun — as is Rose Byrne." Rivers also lauded Jessie Buckley for coming "dressed to win" and called Ava DuVernay’s appearance "a full-fledged fashion moment." Not every choice landed.
Rivers said Elle Fanning’s white Givenchy left her looking "washed out," and she felt Kirsten Dunst’s tiered black Celine "fell flat," possibly because of proportions. Emma Stone’s Louis Vuitton was admired for color and cut but judged "a little too simple" for the Oscars.
