SSD deals have gone quiet and RAM prices have worsened, with the memory supply shortage unlikely to end before the second half of 2027.

Market research firm Counterpoint Research found sharp price jumps after China’s Lunar New Year: 64GB DDR5 DRAM modules for servers rose 150% quarter-over-quarter, 12GB mobile LPDDR5X increased 130%, 8GB SO‑DIMM DDR4 climbed 180%, and NAND product pricing spiked 130–150%.

Counterpoint warned that "these volumes won't be meaningful before the second half of 2027," meaning consumers are unlikely to see improved supply or lower prices until late 2027.

Suppliers are shifting away from custom High Bandwidth Memory and AI chip production to maximize commodity memory output and profits. As Hwang put it, "There is no scenario where memory prices correct in the second half, given that hyperscaler purchasing intent remains unbroken."
