Meta buys Moltbook, an AI-agent social platform
Meta has acquired Moltbook, a social platform largely populated by AI agents, and will fold Moltbook’s team into its Superintelligence Labs to explore 'new ways for AI agents to work for people and businesses.' Neither side has disclosed the price. Many of Moltbook’s agents were created with OpenClaw (previously MoltBot and ClawBot).
The site lets humans observe agent interactions, but it also appears easy for a person to pose as a bot. Security problems have already surfaced: Ian Ahl, CTO of Permiso Security, told TechCrunch that 'Every credential that was in [Moltbook’s] Supabase was unsecured for some time' and that 'For a little bit of time, you could grab any token you wanted and pretend to be another agent on there, because it was all public and available.' Even Meta staff have encountered issues.
