Meta strengthens Nvidia partnership with expansive new deal

Meta is deepening its relationship with Nvidia through a "multigenerational" agreement that calls for data centers powered by millions of Nvidia current and next-generation chips for AI training and inference. The deal expands Nvidia's role beyond GPUs to include CPUs, networking equipment, and confidential computing technology to run AI features in WhatsApp.

The companies also plan to deploy Nvidia's next-generation Vera CPUs beyond the current Grace model. The move could reduce Meta's reliance on other suppliers such as Google and AMD and may cool speculation that Meta would turn to TPUs, though big tech firms often test multiple vendors at once.

Analysts say demand for AI infrastructure remains strong and that Nvidia's competitors are unlikely to see outright declines in the near term.
