Meta to buy 6 gigawatts of AMD AI chips
Meta has agreed to buy 6 gigawatts' worth of AMD's artificial-intelligence chips in a multi-year deal to support the social network's AI infrastructure buildout.
The announcement follows a separate chip deal Meta recently made with Nvidia and comes as AMD continues to strike agreements with Big Tech. In October, AMD agreed a multi-year deal to supply its AI chips to OpenAI.
AMD's stock rose nearly 12% in premarket trading after the news. Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg said, "We're excited to form a long-term partnership with AMD to deploy efficient inference compute and deliver personal superintelligence."
