Konami has released the final major update for The Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 1, adding improved HD resolutions and a performance boost that allows some of the more demanding games to run at 60fps on Switch 2. The biggest changes come to Metal Gear Solid 1 and Snake Eater, which now offer expanded resolution options—original, high, or max—though the improved HD textures for the original Metal Gear can produce some jagged edges.

The patch also lets players swap the confirm and cancel buttons and adds key binding options for mouse and keyboard on PC. For Metal Gear Solid 3, the new texture pack requires a massive 60GB install to deliver what the update describes as a bastard version of 4K.

On Nintendo’s platform the upgrade is most significant: Switch 2 can now run Metal Gear Solid 2 and Snake Eater at roughly 60fps instead of being locked at 30fps. Players can customize internal resolution and upscaling for both gameplay and cinematics to balance the original look with smoother performance.
