Mewgenics, a tactical RPG roguelike about cat breeding, drew criticism after launch for its long list of voice cameos. The roster includes content creators Ethan and Hila Klein, both of whom have expressed pro-Israel views; Hila was born in Israel and served in the Israel Defense Forces at 18 in a non‑combat role.

After some fans raised objections on social media, the developers responded. Developer Edmund McMillen said the giant list of meowers was gathered over several years, with Ethan Klein’s contribution coming together four years before the game launched. "I wanted the game to feature a huge array of iconic voices I’ve been hearing echoing across the internet for most of my time making games," he said, adding that he was "[pretty] all over the place when it came to cameos" and tried to include ones that clashed or counterbalanced each other.
