Michael Saylor said quantum computing is not Bitcoin’s greatest security threat at the moment. Speaking on Natalie Brunell’s Coin Stories podcast, he said the broader cybersecurity community generally agrees any meaningful quantum-related risk remains at least a decade away and that it’s "not a ‘this decade thing.’" He added there is no consensus that a threat exists now or will materialize anytime soon.

Saylor argued that a major quantum breakthrough would prompt coordinated upgrades across industries, with global banking systems, internet infrastructure, consumer devices, AI networks and crypto protocols, including Bitcoin, moving to quantum-resistant cryptography.

He has previously suggested Bitcoin’s greater risk comes from ambitious opportunists pushing protocol changes, noting how long it takes for multiple versions of software to roll out and for nodes, wallets and exchanges to upgrade. Institutional investors appear to be pricing in uncertainty.
