Mickey Rourke, 73, says he withheld nearly $60,000 in rent on his former Los Angeles rental because the living conditions became "unacceptable." He said there were serious problems that repeatedly went unaddressed despite his efforts to have them fixed, including ongoing rodent issues that required multiple visits and a bathroom and plumbing that frequently did not work.

Rourke added that withholding rent was not a decision he made lightly and that he could not continue paying for a house in such poor condition after many attempts to get repairs made. Landlord Eric T. Goldie filed a complaint in Los Angeles County Superior Court and a judgment for possession was entered by default, which suggests Rourke likely did not respond to the filing or appear in court.

A December filing had sought an order for Rourke to vacate the home within three days or pay $59,100 in back rent.
