Microsoft has a code name for its next-generation Xbox: Project Helix, announced by newly appointed Microsoft Gaming CEO Asha Sharma on X. Sharma wrote that "Project Helix will lead in performance and play your Xbox and PC games," and framed it as part of a renewed commitment to the return of Xbox.

The official Xbox X account unveiled an animated logo: a double helix that forms an X shape within a circle. The design suggests the helix’s two strands represent the PC and Xbox games the console will be able to play. Microsoft plans a major presence at the GDC Festival of Gaming, hosting a session called "Building for the Future with Xbox." Jason Ronald, vice president of next generation at Xbox, is set to detail how Xbox intends to empower creators with a more flexible, connected ecosystem; the session notes 2026 marks Xbox’s 25th anniversary and emphasizes seamless play across devices.

Sharma has said the company will focus on a return to Xbox roots.
