Middle East war cancels crypto events and disrupts F1 partnerships
The ongoing war in the Middle East has disrupted a string of high-profile business gatherings, including major crypto conferences. TOKEN2049 Dubai, normally held in late April and attracting more than 15,000 attendees, has been postponed to April 21–22, 2027, with organizers citing safety, international travel and logistical concerns and retaining tickets for next year.
TON Gateway Dubai, scheduled for early May, was canceled outright because of heightened security risks, and attendees were issued full refunds. Sporting events have also been hit. The Bahrain Grand Prix, set for April 12, and the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, set for April 19, are expected to be canceled amid safety risks such as nearby military strikes, disrupted airspace and travel complications for teams and staff, with Formula 1 and the FIA likely to make a formal announcement soon.
Later races, including the Qatar Grand Prix and the Abu Dhabi season finale in December, remain scheduled for now but are being closely monitored.
