Mighty No. 9 developer Comcept has been formally dissolved, report says
Comcept, the studio founded by Mega Man veteran Keiji Inafune in 2010 to make Mighty No. 9, has been formally dissolved, Japanese gaming site Gamebiz (via Gematsu) reports.
Mighty No. 9 began as a high-profile Kickstarter in 2013 — a Mega Man-like sidescroller that generated major interest when Inafune led the project.
Multiple delays preceded a release that was poorly received, and late-arriving physical editions also disappointed players, PC Gamer noted.
PC Gamer added that "there are literally zero people playing it on Steam right now" and said Comcept had effectively been inactive for some time, calling the formal dissolution more of a burial for a studio once at the head of one of the biggest videogame crowdfunding campaigns.
The Gamebiz report states the company has been formally dissolved but does not detail any next steps for Comcept’s staff, assets, or the Mighty No. 9 property.
