Mike Flanagan's Netflix Horror Series, Ranked
There are fans of Mike Flanagan and those who haven't yet become obsessed. Between 2018 and 2023 he made five horror series for Netflix that blend scares with emotional storytelling, and they don't all land the same way. At the bottom of this ranking is The Fall of the House of Usher (2023).
Ambitious and thematically broad, it includes a strong turn from Rahul Kohli as Leo but leans on unlikeable central figures and never quite delivers the lingering dread of Flanagan's best work. Above it sits The Haunting of Bly Manor (2020), a Gothic take on The Turn of the Screw starring Victoria Pedretti as Dani Clayton; its atmosphere and jump scares are effective, yet it lacks the resonance of his most memorable series.
Midway through the list is The Midnight Club (2022), set in a hospice where dying teens swap scary stories and hold frank conversations about death; characters such as Anya (Ruth Codd) and nurse Mark (Zach Gilford) bring hope to bleak circumstances.
