Mike Flanagan Signs Multiyear Deal With Amazon MGM
Mike Flanagan, known for Stephen King adaptations Doctor Sleep and Gerald's Game and for television series The Haunting of Hill House, Midnight Mass and The Haunting of Bly Manor, has signed a new multiyear deal that secures a home for his streaming projects on Prime Video. Much of his work previously debuted on Netflix, including the films Hush and Before I Wake.
The agreement between his Red Room Pictures and Amazon MGM Studios covers development and production of original series for the streaming service and applies only to his television slate, not to feature films. That shift aligns with his Carrie TV series, scheduled for release this fall on Prime Video.
Flanagan is currently shooting a reboot of The Exorcist, which he also wrote; the project features a cast led by Scarlett Johansson and several regular collaborators.
The deal could also give traction to his long-gestating series adaptation of Stephen King's The Dark Tower. This is a developing story with more details to follow.
