Mike Steele, 28, from Tutwiler, Missouri, won an almost instant Triple Turn when he sang "For Tonight," his silky baritone proving he belonged on the stage. When he spoke, however, Kelly Clarkson confessed, "I don’t feel like your talking voice matches your singing voice," a reaction Steele shrugged off: "I get that a lot, actually." Coach John Legend praised the sound, saying, "That rich baritone is rare," while Adam Levine admitted, "It’s that deep, rich voice I wish I had." Legend pointed out that Steele's two-toned suit echoed an outfit he’d worn on the show, prompting Clarkson's sarcastic, "Aww, you have so much in common," and Levine's quip, "I don’t have that suit, but I can borrow yours." Steele said he is studying music to better provide for his two children and had worked as a teacher's assistant.
