Mikel Arteta wishes Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain well as move to Celtic nears
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta sent a farewell message to Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain after the 32-year-old trained with the club while preparing for a move to Celtic. The former England international is set to undergo a medical ahead of the switch north of the border. Celtic boss Martin O'Neill said he had spoken to Oxlade-Chamberlain and expected him to join: "I spoke to him this morning.
I think he wants to come. I think he's coming." He added that a medical was planned and voiced hope the deal would be completed soon. Arteta, who played alongside Oxlade-Chamberlain, thanked him for his time at the club: "He’s been brilliant, it's been great to share some time with him, his experiences.
Hopefully we could help him and support him in that tough period for him and wish him all the very best whatever he decides to do." Oxlade-Chamberlain had asked Per Mertesacker if he could train with the under-21s and said he wanted to add value by working with younger players.
