Mina Starsiak Hawk says she misses most of Good Bones but not the interpersonal issues
People reports Mina Starsiak Hawk said she 'misses everything other than the interpersonal issues' about her long-running HGTV series Good Bones, which wrapped its original run in October 2023 after eight seasons.
Starsiak Hawk added that she "loved making the show" but that "the financial side of it" became increasingly challenging: "When I started, the real estate market was a different world, construction costs were different," and by the final seasons "the margins were so tight. There just wasn't really money to be made," she said. She also noted filming remained fun, and she appears on the upcoming seventh season of HGTV's Rock the Block, where she enjoys the creative parts because "it's not my money and it's not my house."
Starsiak Hawk previously addressed family tensions in August 2023 on her Mina AF podcast, saying she wasn't "in a great place" with Karen E. Laine or her brother Tad; Laine co-founded Two Chicks and a Hammer in 2007, stepped back in 2019 and continued to appear on Good Bones. A three-episode spinoff premiered in August 2024 focusing on new beginnings, and Starsiak Hawk says they're starting to slowly mend the rift — "We were all together for the holidays, so we're all amicable" — though she remains uncertain when her own "new normal" will arrive. Rock the Block season 7 will premiere in early 2026 on HGTV.
