MindsEye Hitman crossover canceled as IOI ends publishing collaboration
IOI Partners and developer Build A Rocket Boy announced the conclusion of their publishing collaboration for MindsEye, the glitchy third-person action game that launched last summer. Once IOI finishes transferring publisher status, Build A Rocket Boy will assume sole publishing responsibilities, ensuring continuity for the MindsEye community and all partners.
IOI's exit also cancels the planned Hitman collaboration, disappointing the handful of people who have been playing MindsEye in recent days. The split follows a round of layoffs at Build A Rocket Boy that co‑CEO Mark Gerhard effectively blamed on a conspiracy. Gerhard has said BARB is moving toward prosecution against the "criminal activity" wrought upon the studio at the game's launch.
MindsEye had a disastrous launch, and damage control made the situation worse.
