Minecraft names baby mob update 'Tiny Takeover'

Minecraft has revealed the official name for its first drop of 2026: the Tiny Takeover drop.

No concrete release date was provided, but if Mojang follows the pattern of previous drops, the rollout could happen within a couple of weeks and might coincide with spring.

The post lists the features arriving in the drop, including visual overhauls for 33 baby mobs and two new craftable items: name tags and golden dandelions. It also notes players will receive notifications about how their pets die after they’ve been named.

Each baby mob will get a unique spawn egg so the baby version can be spawned directly, and the update will add a new note block called the trumpet.
