Minecraft World theme park with roller coaster slated for 2027

Mojang Studios and Merlin Entertainment are teaming up to open an official Minecraft theme park called Minecraft World. Announced during the Minecraft Live showcase, the park is tentatively scheduled to open in 2027 and will be integrated with the existing Chessington World of Adventures in Greater London.

It will include its own roller coaster. Merlin Entertainment's website lists a £50 million development budget and promises "a world-first Minecraft coaster, themed retail and dining, plus a host of fan favourites and ridiculous fun from the Minecraft universe." Mock-up images in the press release suggest the project is still in the planning phase, and the park will be designed in collaboration with a selection of iconic Minecraft creators, though no specific names have been announced.
