Time reported that protests have flared in Minneapolis after a federal immigration agent fatally shot 37-year-old Renee Nicole Good, prompting clashes between demonstrators and law enforcement. Protesters convened on Thursday outside the Bishop Henry Whipple Federal Building, which houses federal agencies including an immigration court and local ICE headquarters.

Demonstrators held signs reading 'ICE Out Now' and 'We deserve to be safe in our community.' Law enforcement pushed the crowd away from the building, releasing tear gas and firing pepper balls; the previous day protesters had hurled snowballs and mourners held a makeshift memorial.

Patrick Riley, who protested on Thursday, told The Associated Press, 'We are peacefully demonstrating. We're trying to let this organization know that they're not welcome.' Outrage over Good's killing has prompted protests in New York City, Seattle, and Washington, D.C. Federal officials characterized the shooting as an act of 'self-defense' and said Good attempted to run over the ICE agent; President Donald Trump said on Truth Social that 'the Radical Left is threatening, assaulting, and targeting our Law Enforcement Officers and ICE Agents on a daily basis' and that agents were 'trying to do the job of MAKING AMERICA SAFE.' Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said she believed the agent adhered to training, called the vehicle 'used as a weapon,' and said there would be an investigation.
