Mode, a high-end keyboard maker that lets customers customise caps, stabilisers, switches, plate material, and PCB at checkout, has announced a refresh to its Encore keyboard. The 2026 Encore, developed with YouTuber Matthew Encina, is a 65% layout with a split wood top plate and a new crown mounting system, and will be offered in five colours: Black Sesame, Matcha Cream, Studio Light, Mocha Mushroom, and Monterey Dune.

Mode has not released pricing for the 2026 Encore. For context, the Encore 3 carries a base fee of $269 after removing switches, caps, PCB, and top plate; a build using the cheapest versions of those components currently costs $431 before shipping. Mode says its PCB, mounting system, and keycaps work in sequence to reduce and isolate vibration transfer for cleaner typing sounds, and a brief clip of the 2026 Encore in the company's video suggests a pleasing sound.
