According to People, a mom named Hannah says she has trained her two sons, ages 4 and 6, to be "really well-behaved" and outlined her method in a viral TikTok video. Hannah shared four main tips: start young — she began disciplining around 16 to 18 months, getting down to their level to explain what they did wrong and using a one- to two-minute time-alone consequence that could be repeated until behavior changed, sometimes for two hours; be consistent so children do not take advantage; require children to acknowledge and politely respond so expectations are clear; and be a little "unhinged" when gentle talk fails, getting louder, removing kids from places such as library story times, stores or McDonald’s play areas, and enforcing unpleasant home consequences.

“Sometimes your kids need to know that you mean business and you will not be taking their s--- basically,” she went on. “Kids need a parent, they do not need a friend. They do not need me to gently talk to them softly and kindly all the time. Sometimes they need [me to be] in their face, loud, ‘Hey, we’re not going to act like that.
