The India A.I. Impact Summit unfolded across 120 acres in New Delhi, with more than 300 exhibitors, 500 sessions and organizers expecting 250,000 participants. A fleet of foreign leaders attended, including President Emmanuel Macron and President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, and tech bosses from Google, Microsoft and India’s biggest companies.

The meeting is the fourth in an annual series that began at Bletchley Park in 2023 and moved to Seoul and Paris. Prime Minister Narendra Modi hosted the event, and Ashwini Vaishnaw, the cabinet minister in charge of India’s A.I.

policy, said $200 billion in A.I. investment was expected. India—home to 1.5 billion people and the fastest-growing of the large economies—has abundant tech talent but lags the United States and China and faces shortages of land, water and electricity for data centers.
