Monsters, Inc. 3 Among New Pixar Films in Development

Pixar is enjoying a return to the spotlight with Hoppers, the studio's 30th film, which opened to excellent reviews. The company shows no signs of slowing, moving forward on multiple new original movies and sequels. As of early 2026, at least four new films are in development, all but one of them sequels.

Later this year Pixar will add another chapter to its first and most financially successful franchise when Toy Story 5 arrives in June, with Tom Hanks and Tim Allen reprising Woody and Buzz. Early plans are also in place for Coco 2 and Incredibles 3, with recording for the latter starting this month.

A Wall Street Journal profile on Hoppers noted that Disney and Pixar are developing a third Monsters, Inc.; Variety and The Hollywood Reporter later corroborated the news. Story details have not been revealed, and the threequel does not have a release timeframe.
