Morning staff seeks readers' questions on ICE deportations after Minneapolis shooting
Immigration agents have deported people from across the U.S. over the past year, and officials in Democratic-led states have tried to block a campaign they say sows chaos and fear among residents. Protests have spread nationwide after the killing of Renee Good, a 37-year-old woman who was shot by an ICE officer in Minneapolis last week.
The staff of The Morning asked readers what questions they have about ICE, offering to try to find answers. The invitation called for questions about how the agency operates, how the Trump administration's deportation campaign is faring, how cities and states have responded to ICE agents in their streets, and how undocumented immigrants are selected and located for removal.
Readers were invited to submit questions below; the staff said it would find reporters to answer some of them in the Morning newsletter, and that it would not publish responses without first following up and verifying information or share contact information outside the Times newsroom.
