Mötorhead guitarist Phil Campbell smiling with friends in final photo
Mötorhead guitarist Phil Campbell was photographed with friends in a final social media photo posted to Instagram on Feb. 17. He is seen arm-in-arm with Fozzy frontman Chris Jericho, Trixter bassist PJ Farley and Fozzy drummer Grant Brooks. Jericho dubbed him the "king of the rock n roll ribbers," recalled a story Campbell told about riding a horse onstage during a Testament show, and remembered him "handing out 200" USA Today newspapers to the front row at a Heaven and Hell concert, which fans then held up and started reading when Ronnie James Dio walked onstage.
After news of Campbell’s death, Farley re-shared the snapshot and paid tribute, saying they had seen him "just about three weeks ago" and that Campbell was "in great spirits." "He always brought stories, jokes, his sons and Grey Goose," Farley wrote. Followers left messages such as "Rest in Power, Phil" and "Devastating news." Campbell’s family announced his death at the age of 64 on Saturday.
