On Thursday, the Pentagon designated Anthropic a supply chain risk, effectively blacklisting the AI startup from doing business with the US government. In a recent internal memo obtained by The Information, CEO Dario Amodei said the Trump administration opposes the company because it hasn't donated to the president or offered the kind of "dictator-style" praise he said competitors had.

One suggested route is to follow the lead of other tech leaders who have managed relations with the administration, such as Apple CEO Tim Cook. The memo argues many Big Tech CEOs accept compromises as part of their job to make money for shareholders, and that approach has kept some executives in the administration's good graces.

Practical steps drawn from those examples include being publicly seen watching the Melania documentary, presenting an obviously valuable gift like Cook's inscribed glass-on-gold piece, lavishing praise on the president in public, and attending White House dinners or events while offering thanks for constructive dialogue.
