'Naked Gun' Producer Seth MacFarlane Addresses Sequel
After the rebooted The Naked Gun became one of 2025's surprise hits, grossing just over $100 million and winning new fans with its modern take on the franchise, attention has turned to whether the story will continue. The film revived legacy characters with Liam Neeson and Pamela Anderson among the cast, and many on the creative team are eager for another outing.
Speaking while promoting Ted Season 2, producer Seth MacFarlane said the team would like to make a sequel but has heard nothing from the studio. "I know everyone would love to, including Liam. We have not heard anything yet. I think it's all up to Paramount," he said.
Writers Dan Gregor and Doug Mand have already begun jotting down ideas, with Mand noting multiple notebooks of potential plots. Producer Erica Huggins confirmed the team has discussed continuing the story, and director Akiva Schaffer has said they talked about possibilities even if they were not actively planning another film.
