NASA adds COMPASS program element to ROSES-2025 to fund academic partnerships
NASA’s ROSES-2025 Amendment 36 introduces a new program element, F.19 COMPASS (Collaborative Opportunities for Mentorship, Partnership and Academic Success in Science), to fund collaborations between NASA Centers and academic institutions that advance NASA’s scientific priorities and train the future STEM workforce.
COMPASS prioritizes collaborations with academic institutions that have not traditionally been funded by NASA to provide funding to a broader range of recipients rather than repeat players. The program emphasizes research that reflects NASA and the Administration’s priorities and advances the Science Mission Directorate and NASA’s research goals. It also creates undergraduate and graduate student research and professional development opportunities intended to help build the United States’ STEM workforce.
Notices of Intent are not requested and proposals are due by March 20, 2026. On or about January 13, 2025, the Amendment to the NASA Research Announcement "Research Opportunities in Space and Earth Sciences (ROSES) 2025" (NNH25ZDA001N) will be posted on the NASA research opportunity homepage at https://solicitation.nasaprs.com/ROSES2025. Questions concerning F.19 COMPASS may be directed to Steven Villanueva at steven.villanueva@nasa.gov.
