Natasha Lyonne says she has relapsed and called recovery ‘a lifelong process’
People reports that Natasha Lyonne, 46, said she has relapsed in her sobriety journey, sharing the update in a series of posts on X on the evening of Friday, Jan. 23.
In one post she wrote, “Took my relapse public more to come.” Hours later she followed up with a longer message, writing, “Recovery is a lifelong process. Anyone out there struggling, remember you’re not alone. Grateful for love & smart feet,” and adding, “Gonna do it for baby Bambo,” in reference to her upcoming project about hockey player Sophie “Bambo” Braverman, which she wrote and is slated to direct. Her posts also included, “Stay honest, folks. Sick as our secrets. If no one told ya today, I love you. No matter how far down the scales we have gone, we will see how our experience may help another. Keep going, kiddos. Don’t quit before the miracle.”
Lyonne entered rehab in 2006 and publicly struggled with addiction in the early aughts; she discussed that period in a 2012 Entertainment Weekly interview, saying, “Spiraling into addiction is really, really scary,” and in a 2017 interview with The Guardian she said she has “no problem” speaking openly about her journey and reflected, “Isn’t everyone entitled to a moment of existential breakdown in a lifetime? Adulthood is making peace with being kind to oneself…”
She wrote that she hoped her honesty might help others and told followers she had “more to come” about the situation in her initial post.
