NBA on NBC to air MLK Day quadrupleheader and two games on Jan. 19–20
Nbc reports the NBA on NBC will present a Martin Luther King Jr. Day quadrupleheader on January 19 and two additional games on January 20, airing across NBC and Peacock and featuring six games and 12 teams over the two-day stretch.
Monday’s January 19 MLK Day slate includes Milwaukee Bucks vs. Atlanta Hawks — 1 p.m. ET (Peacock streaming exclusive); Oklahoma City Thunder vs. Cleveland Cavaliers — 2:30 p.m. ET (NBC and Peacock); Dallas Mavericks vs. New York Knicks — 5 p.m. ET (NBC and Peacock); and Boston Celtics vs. Detroit Pistons — 8 p.m. ET (NBC and Peacock). Peacock is the only place to watch the 1 p.m. game, while the other three will broadcast on NBC and stream on Peacock. Detroit leads the season series against Boston 2-1, so Monday’s game will determine whether the Pistons claim full bragging rights or the Celtics even the series at 2-2.
Tuesday, January 20’s Coast 2 Coast Tuesday features San Antonio Spurs vs. Houston Rockets — 8 p.m. ET (NBC and Peacock) and Los Angeles Lakers vs. Denver Nuggets — 10 p.m. ET (Peacock). Both Tuesday games are part of the NBA’s 5th annual AWS NBA Rivals Week, which the league describes as highlighting “classic and emerging rivalries between teams and players,” and the matchups include references to Victor Wembanyama and the Spurs vs. Kevin Durant and the Rockets, followed by LeBron James and the Lakers vs. Jamal Murray and the Nuggets.
