NetEase reportedly cuts funding for Nagoshi Studio
Toshihiro Nagoshi's new studio is reportedly facing closure after NetEase cut its investment in the fledgling developer.
Nagoshi, known for his work on the Yakuza series and Like A Dragon, launched Nagoshi Studio in 2021 in partnership with NetEase, the entertainment conglomerate behind titles such as Marvel Rivals and Naraka Bladepoint.
NetEase is said to have pulled back after learning the studio would need another ¥7 billion (about $44.4 million) to complete production, leaving the team without a financial backer.
Nagoshi has reportedly been seeking outside help and additional funding, but has not found any backing so far.
