Stay Close, a 2021 eight-episode drama series on Netflix, remains a compact, bingeable mystery and holds an impressive 92% score on Rotten Tomatoes. Adapted by Danny Brocklehurst, the story opens with bride-to-be Megan Pierce (Cush Jumbo) celebrating her bachelorette party until a note addressed to "Cassie" drags her buried past into the present.

Once an exotic dancer at the strip club Vixens, Megan has worked to reinvent herself as a suburban mother of three, but old secrets prove difficult to keep hidden. Also central to the plot are Ray (Richard Armitage), a former documentary photographer posing as a paparazzo, and Lorraine (Sarah Parish), an acquaintance who returns unannounced.

The police thread follows DS Michael Broome (James Nesbitt), who becomes obsessed with a missing-person cold case after a man tied to their shared past disappears 17 years to the night from another mystery.
