Netflix has acquired InterPositive, the AI company Ben Affleck founded in 2022. InterPositive says it aims to "blend artistry with technology to craft bold visual stories that connect," building worlds with "AI-powered visuals" while insisting "every frame matters, every idea counts." The streaming service released a statement and a video conversation featuring Affleck, Chief Content Officer Bela Bajaria and Chief Product and Technology Officer Elizabeth Stone.

Affleck said he was driven by skepticism and fear about what AI could do to the industry if developed without creative input, and that his goal is to give creatives a permanent seat at the table. He argued tools must be purpose-built to "represent and protect all the qualities that make a great story," including "the nuances of filmmaking" and "the way light shape-shifts across a scene." InterPositive does not generate finished material; instead it lets filmmakers use dailies or a rough cut to build a model for post-production mixing, coloring, visual effects and editing.
