Netflix to stream anime film Cosmic Princess Kaguya on Jan. 22
Netflix will begin streaming the anime film Cosmic Princess Kaguya on Jan. 22, and a new trailer has been released to promote the release.
The feature debut of Shingo Yamashita (Chainsaw Man, Jujutsu Kaisen), the film is inspired by the Japanese folktale The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter and is set to songs by Vocaloid producers including HoneyWorks, kz (livetune), ryo (supercell), Aqu3ra, yuigot, and 40mP. Vocaloid are AI singing synthesisers created by Yamaha, the report noted.
The story follows a mysterious baby from the moon found in a telephone pole who grows quickly into Kaguya, voiced by Yuko Natsuyoshi. Kaguya befriends honour student Iroha, voiced by Anna Nagase, and aims to become a top idol and streamer in the virtual realm of Tsukuyomi.
The trailer is out ahead of the Jan. 22 Netflix release and is intended to build anticipation for the film.
