Netflix has released a first look at its serial reboot of the Denzel Washington action thriller Man on Fire, which stars Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, MovieWeb reports.

The series is based on A.J. Quinnell’s novel and will run seven episodes, with director Steven Caple Jr. attached to the first two. Billie Boullet, Alice Braga, Scoot McNairy, and Bobby Cannavale join Abdul-Mateen II; Netflix describes Boullet’s character, Poe Rayburn, as the sole witness to a terrifying event who comes to rely on John Creasy. The official synopsis portrays Creasy as a once-high-functioning Special Forces soldier now battling extreme PTSD who is drawn back into violence to protect those around him; the 2004 Denzel Washington film is also available on the streamer.

Netflix has slated the series for 2026. Bobby Cannavale, who will play Paul Rayburn, praised Abdul-Mateen as 'a really, really fantastic actor' and described his role as Creasy’s mentor; further specific premiere details were not provided in the report.
