Movieweb reports that Netflix's new Harlan Coben adaptation Run Away has climbed to No. 1 on the Netflix Top 10 in the United States, displacing Stranger Things; the eight-episode series is second globally, with the final season of Stranger Things still claiming the top worldwide spot.

Inspired by Coben’s 2019 novel of the same name, Run Away stars James Nesbitt, Ruth Jones, Minnie Driver and Alfred Enoch and follows a father who, while searching for his runaway daughter, becomes embroiled in a murder case and a dangerous underworld. The series is now available to binge in its entirety.

Critical and audience reaction has been sharply divided: Run Away sits at 76% on Rotten Tomatoes, with Ready Steady Cut and The Upcoming each giving it 4/5 and praising its twists and cliffhanger montages, while audience measures are mixed — a 45% score on the Popcornmeter and reactions ranging from "absolutely amazing!" and "Fast paced with a gripping storyline" to "Another awful H.C show. These are churned out. TV dog food," and descriptions such as "a tough watch," "Extremely clunky," "Slow and boring," and "trash."

The series debuted at the start of the new year, and despite the divisive response the outlet noted it appears to continue Netflix’s successful run of Harlan Coben adaptations.
