Netflix’s live-action adaptation of One Piece, based on Eiichiro Oda’s manga, follows Monkey D. Luffy (Iñaki Godoy), a young man who can stretch like rubber and dreams of becoming King of the Pirates while searching for the legendary One Piece. With Stranger Things concluding, the series is positioned to become one of Netflix’s next big fantasy-adventure offerings.

Showrunners Matt Owens and Joe Tracz have made the sprawling source material accessible, using Season 1 to introduce and humanize each crew member and Season 2 to deepen their growth. The adaptation has been well received so far: Season 2 holds a 100% critics’ score on Rotten Tomatoes and a 95% audience score, and there are 16 episodes available with Season 3 already in development.

Visually the series leans into its comic roots. Framestore’s VFX work and expanded Season 2 budget bring creatures, Devil Fruit powers, and built sets like Loguetown and Whiskey Peak to life; Tony Tony Chopper (Mikaela Hoover) and Mr.
