Netflix's One Piece Season 2 Trails Season 1 on U.S. Charts
One Piece returned to Netflix on Mar. 10 with all eight episodes of Season 2, and critics have praised it — the season holds a 100% critic rating on Rotten Tomatoes and a 96% fan score. Despite that acclaim, the show has not immediately reclaimed the top spot in the United States.
When the live-action adaptation premiered in 2023 it was an immediate hit, reaching number one on the Top 10 and earning an 86% Certified Fresh score on Rotten Tomatoes. The series also attracted many viewers who were new to the manga and anime, making it accessible to casual audiences.
At the time of writing, Season 2 sits fourth on Netflix’s U.S. charts, behind Love Is Blind: The Reunion, Virgin River and Age of Attraction, even as it tops the worldwide chart per Flix Patrol. The gap of about two and a half years between seasons and heavy competition from shows like Bridgerton, The Night Agent and Steven Spielberg’s The Dinosaurs may help explain the different reception in the U.S.
