Netflix renews Emily in Paris for sixth season with Lily Collins returning
People reports Netflix announced on Monday, Jan. 5 that Emily in Paris has been renewed for a sixth season and that Lily Collins will return as Emily Cooper; the streamer shared a video of Collins blowing out a '6' candle on a croissant.
Netflix said the show's latest season amassed 26.8 million views globally in 11 days. Season 5 debuted at No. 2 on the Global Top 10 English TV list, hit the top 10 in 91 countries and reached No. 1 in 24 (including France). Season 5 began streaming on Dec. 18 and, per its official synopsis, follows Emily as life in Italy seems to fall into place until a work idea backfires and leads to heartbreak and career setbacks.
The season ended with Emily weighing whether to stay in Rome with her Italian boyfriend or return to Paris; Collins said she 'loved' the choice her character made, and costar Ashley Park called it a 'really adult' choice. Season 5 was announced shortly after season 4 ended in September 2024, and series creator Darren Star told Entertainment Tonight in August 2024 he'd like the show to continue 'as long as they'll have us, and as long as our audience is with us.'
