Netflix's 'Scooby-Doo' Series Casts Fred, Velma, Shaggy & Scooby-Doo
Netflix is preparing a new live-action chapter of Scooby-Doo, bringing back the classic gang of teenagers—Shaggy Rogers, Fred Jones, Velma Dinkley and Daphne Blake—alongside their talking Great Dane as Mystery Incorporated. The team will continue to solve spooky mysteries that more often than not end with masked criminals revealed.
Those characters have a long screen history: director Raja Gosnell and writer James Gunn brought the gang to live action in 2002 and 2004 with Matthew Lillard, Freddie Prinze Jr., Linda Cardellini and Sarah Michelle Gellar, and Cartoon Network revisited the format in 2009 and 2010 with Robbie Amell, Nick Palatas, Hayley Kiyoko and Kate Melton.
Netflix has announced the new main cast: Tanner Hagen will play the food-loving Shaggy, Maxwell Jenkins takes on Fred and his penchant for plans and traps, Abby Ryder Fortson is Velma, the brains of the group, and McKenna Grace will portray Daphne, the team’s most fashion-forward member.
