Netflix Announces Squid Game: The VIP Challenge

Netflix has confirmed a new Squid Game reality series, Squid Game: The VIP Challenge, which will feature celebrities competing in the show’s signature format. Season 1’s announced participants include former NBA star Tristan Thompson, Owning Manhattan’s Ryan Serhant, Spice Girls member Mel B, and additional names.

The announcement expands a franchise that first arrived in 2021 as a single-season concept and went on to become Netflix’s most-watched show. Creator Hwang Dong-Hyuk returned to continue the story, with a second season near the end of 2024 and a third and final season following about six months later.

Squid Game has already branched into unscripted television: Squid Game: The Challenge has aired two full seasons and was renewed for a third expected later this year or early next year.
