Netflix unveils trailer for The Rip, featuring Matt Damon and Ben Affleck clash
Movieweb reports Netflix has unveiled the official trailer for The Rip, an action thriller starring Matt Damon and Ben Affleck that briefly shows the two actors battling and is set to premiere on January 16, 2026.
Directed and written by Joe Carnahan from a story he worked on with Michael McGrale, the film’s official logline says a team of Miami cops discovers millions in cash and trust among them begins to fray. The cast also includes Steven Yeun, Teyana Taylor, Sasha Calle, Catalina Sandino Moreno, Scott Adkins, Kyle Chandler, Néstor Carbonell and Lina Esco, and the runtime is listed as 133 minutes.
Carnahan told Netflix Tudum that The Rip was inspired by a "personal experience" of a friend who worked for the Miami Dade police department, and he said the title refers to Miami cop parlance for seizing a suspect’s cash or contraband. The trailer suggests the team unravels around Damon and Affleck’s characters, and the film arrives on Netflix on January 16, 2026.
