Netflix wins KPopDemonHunters.com domain in UDRP decision
Netflix has won the domain name KPopDemonHunters.com in a trademark dispute, according to Mashable. The domain had been held by an individual in Germany identified in the source as Sanchit Sood, and Domain Name Wire first reported Netflix's successful challenge.
The dispute followed the runaway success of the animated film KPop Demon Hunters, which the source says has broken streaming records and won awards. The domain was originally registered three days after the film was released on June 20, 2025, the article states.
The complaint was filed under ICANN's Uniform Domain Name Dispute Resolution Policy (UDRP), which requires a complainant to prove the domain is confusingly similar to their trademark, that the registrant has no legitimate interest, and that the registration was made in bad faith. The registrant did not respond to the UDRP filing, leaving the sole World Intellectual Property Organization panelist with only Netflix's arguments.
With the domain reportedly not redirecting to a site and the registrant absent from the proceedings, the panelist ruled for Netflix. The registrar where KPopDemonHunters.com was registered has or will transfer the domain to Netflix, effectively ending the dispute, the source says.
