Netflix’s 6-Part Spy Thriller Is the Streaming Hit Nobody Predicted
Netflix’s six-episode spy thriller Unfamiliar has emerged as an unexpected streaming success, finding a spot on the platform’s global charts despite heavy competition from other espionage shows. Tom Hiddleston returned after a decade to star in the second season of The Night Manager for Prime Video, Emilia Clarke and Haley Lu Richardson headline Ponies on Peacock, and Gary Oldman continues to draw audiences on Apple TV with Slow Horses.
FlixPatrol placed Unfamiliar fifth on Netflix’s chart on Friday, the same day The Night Agent led the rankings after its third-season return and edged past Bridgerton Season 4. The six-episode series also outperformed the fourth season of The Lincoln Lawyer, the latest run of Love Is Blind, and the international title Lead Children.
Premiering on February 5, Unfamiliar stars Susanne Wolff and Felix Kramer as a married couple yanked back into former lives as secret agents; an unexpected threat forces them to face various enemies while trying to protect their family.
