Lionsgate has unveiled the official trailer for Beast, which is set to hit theaters on Apr. 10. The new footage highlights the film’s bloody MMA action and positions Russell Crowe as the mentor to a returning champion.

The story follows Daniel MacPherson as Patton, a former MMA champion pulled back for one final bout against the reigning title-holder. He reunites with his old trainer, played by Crowe, while trying to protect his younger brother, who ends up in the hospital after falling into debt with shady figures.

Crowe co-wrote the screenplay with David Frigerio, and Tyler Atkins directed. Alongside Crowe and MacPherson, the cast includes Luke Hemsworth, Bren Foster, Amy Shark, Mojean Aria and Kelly Gale.

The trailer and premise place Beast among other MMA-centered films; whether it ranks with the genre’s best is something audiences will decide when the film opens on Apr. 10.
