Variety revealed that multiple new projects inspired by Robert Jordan’s The Wheel of Time novels are in development at iwot Studios, which will work with Thomas Vu and Anthony Borquez’s Initiate Entertainment. The announcement drew mixed reactions on social media: some fans welcomed a new lease of life for the series after the Prime Video show was canceled, while others worried about iwot Studios’ ties to partners and organizations known for using AI.

Borquez is the founder of Grab Games and co‑founder of Grab Labs, an AI development firm specializing in the entertainment and video game industries. He will work with Vu alongside iwot Studios CEO Rick Selvage and COO Larry Mondragon, both producers on Amazon’s The Wheel of Time, to develop a new video game, an animated TV series and animated feature films.

Only last month the studio struck a deal with Framestore to launch an “AI-enabled platform” for asset management across multiple platforms and projects.
